About the Client

Our client runs a network of media companies and publications, reaching over 1M readers in 17 countries. With over 50 years on the market, the conglomerate has also founded and acquired various financial, real estate, wellness, health, and leisure brands.

To support such large-scale operations, the company builds solutions for improved content management, order processing, marketing campaigns, and other functions. We help the client's teams in the USA and Ireland develop, maintain, and modernize custom software.

Challenge

The client needed to hire dedicated software engineers for several independent projects. Instead of seeking separate contractors for each, they chose Exoft as a one-stop vendor for all IT staff augmentation needs.

Cooperation Structure

Our IT staff augmentation partnership kicked off in May 2022 and has steadily grown. We engaged eight experts, namely QA automation engineers and software developers. They have contributed to several projects: an order & subscription management platform, a tool for marketing campaigns, a web portal, and a platform integration engine.

As part of our IT staff augmentation services, the client can transfer any given expert from one team to another. This helps quickly bridge tech talent gaps and improve cross-functional knowledge sharing.

We provide the client with flexible team scaling. Exoft adds or reduces the number of team members depending on the client's requirements and priorities.

Our cooperation follows timezone-aware scheduling. Some of our engineers work according to U.S. business hours, while others align with those in Ireland.

We also adapt to the client’s processes, coding standards, security protocols, and Scrum workflows. Our dedicated software engineers actively participate in all meetings and contribute to sprint planning.

We are more than just silent performers. While delivering tasks on time and according to requirements, they also suggest improvements and warn about potential issues.

Scope of Work

The scope of work varies by project. Typically, the client plans the backlog and assigns tasks to both in-house specialists and Exoft engineers. Since 2022, we have participated in the following initiatives:

  • Modernization of an order management platform. We helped the client migrate their platform from outdated technologies and monolithic architecture to microservices. Together, we implemented domain-driven design principles, redeveloped core functionality, and preserved UX familiar to existing users.
  • Development of a web portal. We helped the client create an information portal about traveling from scratch. We used Contentful as the go-to CMS.
  • QA staff augmentation. We analyzed and improved the client's existing testing frameworks and tested each feature before deployment. We tested payment integrations, scheduling tools, subscription engines, and notification tools.
  • Data management & system maintenance. We maintain a large set of databases and their integrations, ensuring fast data exchange between different clients' teams. We also work on the client's integration engine, help establish a monitoring system, and support incident management to ensure the platform's reliability and uptime.

Value Delivered

In 3 years, we've increased the number of people working with the client by eight dedicated software and QA engineers. The client engages us for 3+ different cross-functional software teams, flexibly reassigning people when needed.

The company's managers directly oversee our specialists and allocate their workload. From our side, there are no extra project managers or any other middle parties, which means no hidden costs.

With our staff augmentation services, on average, the client's teams completed their projects within a year. We're preparing to launch a modernized platform in the next quarter.
